Louis XVI BENCH styling

This Louis XVI styling bench is definitely old, but passed the sturdiness test, so she came home with me;))

Here’s how I refinished this bench using some paint and how I build a new bench seat.

First you have to detach the seat cushion from the frame. I just flipped her upside down and used my  screw driver and a flat head bit to back out all of the screws that were holding the current seat in place.

Here’s everything you’ll need to cover your own bench seat: a piece of wood,  saw,  Foam Mattress Pad, buttons, 1,5 m of Fabric, Staple Gun.
I made a template on a piece of wood using the original seat and cut it out with my  saw.
I highly recommend you iron the fabric before adhering it to your cushion.

Place your fabric down on your work surface and center your seat taking care to make sure your pattern is flowing how how you like across the seat! I suggest starting stapling in the middle of each side!

Pretty dramatic before and after huh?
